  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In one bowl, mix together the crisp topping ingredients: flour, oats, light brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, combine diced apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  4. For the bread batter: whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, beat room temperature butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract and milk. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
  5. For the cream cheese layer: beat cream cheese with granulated sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.
  6. Layer half the bread batter in the pan followed by half of the apple filling and half of the cream cheese mixture; repeat layers ending with apples on top. Sprinkle crisp topping over everything.
  7. Bake for about 60 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool before glazing with powdered sugar mixed with milk and vanilla if desired.
