  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • 5 tbsp almond flour (or finely ground nuts)
  • Vanilla ice cream (or flavor of choice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add cold water gradually until dough forms.
  2. Roll out dough for the bottom and top crusts.
  3. Slice apples and cook with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and water until slightly softened.
  4. Assemble the pie with the apple filling between the crusts; cut slits on top for steam to escape.
  5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
