  • 1 1/2 cups melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the frosting: butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, cocoa powder, and vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 6-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter with granulated and brown sugars until smooth. Add eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Sift together cocoa powder, salt, and flour; fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Allow cooling completely.
  5. For the frosting, beat room temperature butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar followed by heavy cream, cocoa powder, vanilla bean paste, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  6. Assemble the cake by layering brownies with frosting in between and on top as desired.
