  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until the meat is cooked through.
  2. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper to build flavor.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about one hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
