Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sweet apples (such as Gala or Fuji)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 inches ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples, removing the cores but keeping the skin on for added flavor.
  2. In an Instant Pot, combine apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Release steam manually.
  3. For stovetop preparation, combine all ingredients in a stock pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft. Steep off heat for another 10 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar to separate solids from liquid.
  5. Allow tea to cool before refrigerating for easy access.
