  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by whisking together soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until softened; remove and set aside.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add marinated beef strips and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch to create the sauce. Pour over the beef in the pan and let simmer until thickened.
  5. Return sautéed onions to the pan, combine everything well, and serve hot over rice or noodles.
