Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 Black tea bags or 1 tbsp loose leaf black tea
  • 1 Apple, thinly sliced (or 1/4 cup dried apple)
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 Ground nutmeg
  • 1 Star anise pod (optional)
  • Maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the apple slices, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and star anise pod with boiling water. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea to the saucepan and steep for an additional 3-5 minutes based on your desired strength.
  3. Remove tea bags or strain out the loose tea along with the apple slices and spices.
  4. Sweeten to taste with maple syrup if desired, stir well, and serve warm.
