Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm whole milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons whole milk, as needed for consistency
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl; let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture along with softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract to form the dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise covered in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1–1.5 hours).
  4. Prepare the cheesecake filling by mixing cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter. Top with cheesecake filling and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll tightly and cut into individual rolls; let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and salt.
  9. Top with sliced strawberries.
